Legally compliant digital preservation is a regulated process that guarantees the authenticity, integrity, readability, and retrievability of documents over time. This process involves affixing a digital signature and timestamp to documents, thereby ensuring their legal validity.

All electronic documents that comply with current legal requirements can be preserved digitally with legal validity, including fiscal, accounting, administrative, and contractual documents. It is essential that such documents are static and unchangeable, preferably in PDF/A format, and that they are digitally signed and time-stamped.
